Il Meglio Del 2017 secondo Angelo Leonardi

È stato un anno jazzistico particolarmente ricco e creativo. I grandi protagonisti che hanno superato—spesso di molto—il mezzo secolo ci hanno regalato nuove opere memorabili. Basterebbe ricordare i recenti album di Wadada Leo Smith, Charles Lloyd, Satoko Fujii, Steve Coleman, Tomasz Stańko, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bill Frisell, Gary Peacock, Roscoe Mitchell, Tim Berne, Tom Harrell, Miroslav Vitous, Fred Hersch, Louis Sclavis, Franco D'Andrea e Michel Portal.

Poi ci sono le sorprendenti uscite da leader (esordi o poco più) delle cantanti Jazzmeia Horn e Krystle Warren, dei pianisti e compositori Vitor Gonçalves e Fabian Almazan, del bassista Miles Mosley, del batterista Daniel Freedman.
Ed infine le opere del 2017 dei trenta/quarantenni nel pieno della loro creatività: Vijay Iyer, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Avishai Cohen, Brian Landrus, Mary Halvorson, David Virelles, Mark Guiliana, Anat Cohen, Dan Tepfer, Jamie Saft, Gerald Clayton, Tigran Hamasyan, Nate Smith, Linda May Han Oh, Brandon Seabrook, Antonio Sanchez, Julian Lage, James Brandon Lewis, JD Allen, Craig Taborn.

Ho dimenticato sicuramente di citarne altri ma l'ordine di grandezza è chiaro. Alcuni di questi artisti sono presenti in questa lista altri no e la ragione è dovuta essenzialmente allo spazio anche se nella scelta hanno pesato quelle imponderabili ragioni emotive che ci fanno scegliere una cosa pur amando anche l'altra.
