Il meglio del 2017 secondo Libero Farne

Per quanto mi riguarda le novità più sorprendenti le ho ascoltate a Bolzano (Warped Dreamer e il trio In Love With con i fratelli Ceccaldi) e a Saalfelden (Eve Risser e Roberto Negro). L'Europa si conferma quindi una fucina di idee originali e di notevole spessore. E l'America? Più dei nomi emergenti (James Brandon Lewis, Joshua Abrams, Kris Davis...) mi pare che le cose migliori le abbiano espresse protagonisti e gruppi già ben consolidati (Claudia Quintet, Human Feel, Cuong Vu, Craig Taborn, Vijay Iyer, Steve Coleman, Tim Berne, Michael Formanek, Matt Wilson...), oltre ai decani Roscoe Mitchell e Wayne Shorter. In Italia si riscontra un livello medio molto elevato rispetto un tempo: anche qui nomi nuovi e proposte articolate stilisticamente su un'ampia gamma di approcci.
