Il meglio del 2018 secondo Angelo Leonardi

Ogni linguaggio che partecipa alla multiforme scena del jazz contemporaneo ha espresso dischi eccellenti, equiparabili per valore artistico . Dal mio punto di vista, accanto alle opere di veterani sempre creativi come Henry Threadgill, Kenny Barron, Bill Frisell e Franco D'Andrea, ho ammirato i lavori di quaranta/cinquantenni come Jamie Saft, JD Allen, Michael Leonhart, Edward Simon e del nostro Riccardo Brazzale, il leader della Lydian Sound Orchestra.
Senza dimenticare le trentottenni Mary Halvorson e Anat Cohen a dimostrazione che "l'altra metà del cielo" ha saldamente occupato i vertici della nostra musica. Il più giovane è Aaron Parks, anche se da tempo ha oltrepassato la categoria del talento emergente.
