We're going everywhere this week. We offer you twenty-first century music from Joshua Redman, Michael Sarian, magnificent Vanessa Perica, Nicole Mitchell and Manu Katche. Roll up the rug for Benny Goodman's trio, Fletcher Henderson and Rex Stewart(with Johnny Hodges on soprano and Harry Carney on clarinet). Our Charlie Parker @ 100 celebration continues as we start to revive the Dial recordings. Anthony Braxton is featured in two settings: with Dave Brubeck (for his centennial, along with Lee Konitz) and with Chick Corea (an August 50th anniversary Blue Note recording—not the wrong October recording date on the album jacket; confirmed by Mr. Cuscuna). So far as I know, that recording (Circling In) was never reissued on CD and has been generally unavailable since its release in the mid-1970s. If you're a fan of the Circle band, you might want to check this out. Along the way, Eddie Harris and Kenny Garrett. Enjoy the show.
