Penang Island Jazz Festival 2012
The Penang Island Jazz Festival 2012 was a success on several levels; first, extremely healthy audience numbers, in spite of the rain, was as good a reflection as any of the festival's growing reputation as a must-see event for many Malaysians, ex-pats and tourists alike; second, the high quality of the bands on the Creative Malaysia fringe stages suggested that not only are more bands viewing PIJF as a good platform for furthering their careers, but the organizers have raised the bar. Finally, the near-faultless organization and running of the PIJF makes it a model for other festivals in the region to aspire to. With exciting plans for PIJF's 10th anniversary birthday bash in 2013 already taking shape, there'll be only one place to be in Malaysia as November gives way to December next year.
