02. Ornette Coleman - Sound Grammar (Sound Grammar - 2006).
Due album di Ornette molto distanti nel tempo; la "veste" di questi capolavori infatti è piuttosto diversa. Ma lo spirito ed il suono del leader sono rimasti immutati nel tempo. Adoro questa musica!
03. Warne Marsh - Personal Statement (Polydor - 1987).
04. Lee Konitz - Lone-Lee (SteepleChase - 1974).
Due atipici lavori in solo. I due esponenti del cosiddetto cool jazz, che non hanno bisogno di presentazioni, dipanano lunghe e intricate linee melodiche il cui rincorrere mi dà estremo piacere...
05. Mat Maneri - Trinity (ECM - 2001).
Un altro CD in solo che ha influenzato molto il mio lavoro degli ultimi anni.
06. Witold Lutoslawski - Cello Concerto (Dux - 2005).
Mi piace ascoltare questo concerto per violoncello e orchestra seguendo la partitura: ci sono molti elementi che mi piacerebbe sviluppare con un'orchestra di improvvisatori...
07. Julius Hemphill - Abdul Wadud - Live in New York (Red Records - 1976)
08. Daniel Levin - Some Trees (Hat Hut - 2006).
Wadud e Levin sono due violoncellisti che apprezzo molto. Il primo per il suo approccio molto "black," quasi da contrabbassista; il secondo più melodico e quasi "ornettiano".
09. Don Cherry, Hassan Hakmoun, Adam Rudolph - Gift of the Gnawa (Blue Flame - 1991).
10. Randy Weston and The Gnawa Master Musicians of Morocco - Spirit! The Power of Music (Universal - 2000).
L'incontro di due grandi jazzisti con la musica Gnawa del Marocco. Non sempre queste operazioni riescono, anzi... In questi due casi mi sento di affermare di sì.
