Qui Mr. Motian è con Chris Potter e Jason Moran. E' un disco piacevolissimo che continua a girare nel mio CD player. Mi domandavo perché Paul non usasse di frequente i bassisti. Ora lo so perché faccio la stessa cosa anch'io, anche se con qualche anno di ritardo. Mi piace come fa girare questo trio e come ha fatto girare quello storico con Frisell e Lovano. Paul Motian è un tesoro mondiale e ho sentito dire che non vuole lasciare Manhattan. E nemmeno andare a Brooklyn! Che grande!
02. Peter Gabriel - Scratch My Back (Emi - 2010).
Disco emozionante, scuro, profondo, fresco dove Peter interpreta musica altrui con un'orchestra. Nessuna chitarra, nessuna batteria, meravigliosi arrangiamenti, grande voce. Sono un fan sfegatato di Gabriel.
03. Laura Nyro - Spread Your Wings and Fly, Live at the Fillmore Easy May 30, 1971 (Sony - 2004).
Laura Nyro si è insediata nel mio cervello. Se non avete questo disco dovete comprarlo assolutamente. E' profondo e ricco di emozione. Vi farà piangere. Come è successo al mio amico Nels Cline. Adoriamo Laura. E' triste che ci abbia lasciati così giovane.
04. Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid (Geffen - 2008).
Jon Evans bassista, ingegnere, produttore, amico, me l'ha fatto ascoltare mentre mi recavo ad un concerto. Yeah, assolutamente grande. Meravigliose composizioni, arrangiamenti, esecuzioni. Canzone dopo canzone, ti entra in testa piacevolmente.
05. Thelonious Monk - Monk in France (OJC - 1991).
Il gruppo di Monk che preferisco con Rouse, Ore e Dunlop. Dunlop suona la musica di Monk al meglio.
06. Thelonius Monk - In Italy (OJC - 1991).
L'assolo di Monk in "Epistrophy" è pazzesco.
07. Oumou Sangare - Seya (Nonesuch - 2009).
Amo la musica africana e Oumou Sangare in maniera particolare. Grande groove, splendide melodie, canto profondo. Una bomba.
08. Konono No. 1 - Assume Crash Position ( Crammed—2010).
Possiedo anche un disco antecedente a questo. Veramente cool.
09. Fela Kuti - Fela Kuti and Afrika 70' (Knittin Factory - 2009).
Cercatelo e compratelo!
10. AA.VV - The Big Lebowski [Colonna sonora] (Island Def Jam - 1998).
