02. ICE-T - Power (Rhino - 1988).
Uno dei miei dischi di hip-hop preferiti. Ottima produzione e grandi arrangiamenti. Non mi stanco mai di ascoltarlo.
03. Alec K. Redfearn and the Siezures - Exterminating Angel (Corleone - 2009).
Splendido disco dal fisarmonicista e compositore Alec Redearn, qui alle prese anche con l'ukulele.
04. Spastic Ink. - Ink Complete (Eclectic/Electric - 2000).
Incredibile tech/prog metal del chitarrista Ron Jarzombek.
05. Steve Vai - Flex-Able (Akashic - 1984).
E' una lista zeppa di chitarristi. Questo è uno dei miei dischi preferiti e suona spesso sul mio giradischi. Chitarra elettrica e composizioni istrioniche che fanno rimanere a bocca aperta.
06. Neil Young - Time Fades Away (Reprise - 1972).
Neil e Stray Gators imperversano in questo live. Tormento e disperazione viscerale in bella evidenza.
07. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - We're Only in It for the Money (Verve - 1968).
Forse la prima apparizione del 5/8 e 7/8 nella musica rock? Adoro la batteria di Billy Mundi in questo disco.
08. Hound Dog Taylor - Hound Dog Taylor and the House Rockers (Alligator - 1971).
Blues incendiario fatto a brandelli da Hound Dog. Disco che mi commuove.
09. Bert Jansch - Rosemary Lane (Reprise - 1971).
Sono sempre stato spiazzato dal modo di suonare la chitarra di Bert. "Sarabanda" è sorprendente e per certi versi scioccante.
10. John Cale - Paris 1919 (Reprise - 1973).
Opulenta e lussureggiante orchestrazione con la UCLA Symphony Orchestra e Lowell George alla chitarra. Ci sono riferimenti letterali in abbondanza così come lezioni di geografia...
