Gallio, Voerkel & Frey: Tiegel
Tra i suoi primi gruppi un trio dei primissimi anni Ottanta, Tiegel, era completato da Urs Voekel [pianista, ma anche angoloso batterista] e dal contrabbassista Peter K. Frey [anche lui "versatile" al trombone], musicisti che con Gallio condividevano la voglia di esplorare a trecentosessanta gradi l'universo dell'improvvisazione.
Nella Unheard Series della Atavistic vengono alla luce ora tredici brevi improvvisazioni risalenti al giugno dell'1981, tredici abbozzi che spaziano dal conflagrare timbrico e materico degli strumenti a percorsi narrativi più lirici [la più lunga "Improvisation # 5"], rivelando tre musicisti curiosi e sensibili, ancorché in un contesto di casalinga informalità. Una curiosità che conferma la vitalità del jazz europeo di quegli anni, anche quello meno conosciuto.
