Anche se siamo ormai alla fine della vicenda, resta uno dei più affascinanti dischi della scena rock psichedelica di San Francisco. Ci sono i Jefferson Airplane, i Grateful Dead, David Crosby e tanti altri. Atmosfere ancora arrabbiate e viaggi psichedelici.
02. Dave Holland Quartet - Extensions (ECM - 1990).
Preferisco nettamente questa formazione rispetto al quintetto di questi ultimi anni. Non fosse altro che per la presenza di Steve Coleman!
03. National Health - Of Queues and Cures (Spalax Music - 1978).
Uno dei gruppi fondamentali della scena di Canterbury.
04. Killing Joke - What's This For...! (Virgin - 1981).
Avevo la cassetta di questo disco e ora sono finalmente riuscito a trovare la ristampa in CD. Tra punk e dark, con una batteria ossessiva e atmosfere horror!!
05. Taksim Trio (Doublemoon - 2007).
E' un CD che ho preso lo scorso anno ad Istanbul. Bello come pochi, con clarinetto, kanun e baglama che dialogano tra loro con eleganza, antica saggezza e moderne contaminazioni. Al clarinetto un grande Husnu Senlendirici, già nei Laco Tayfa.

07. ICP Orchestra - Live in Soncino 1979 (Imprint - 2006).
L'avanguardia europea! Brani di Misha Mengelberg con Eugenio Colombo, Enrico Rava, Gianluigi Trovesi, Han Bennink, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Baldo Maestri, Larry Fiskind, Renato Geremia.
08. Soft Heap (Spalax Music - 1979).
Quattro musicisti eccezionali, Elton Dean, Hugh Hopper, Pip Pyle e Alan Gowen. Poco conosciuto ma comunque illuminante esempio della particolare fusione tra jazz e rock tipica della scena di Canterbury.
09. Charles Mingus Sextet with Eric Dolphy - Cornell 1964 (Blue Note - 2007).
10. The Dukes of Stratosphear - Chips from the Chocolate Fireball. An Anthology (Virgin - 1987).
Uno dei più graditi scherzi messi in atto dagli XTC, ottimo gruppo new wave inglese: cambiare nome e look e mettersi a suonare rock psichedelico in puro stile sixties! L'esercizio è riuscito benissimo, perfetto oserei dire... peccato non aver continuato nello scherzo!!!
