Ark Ovrutski: Sounds of Brasil

Il bassista ucraino Ark Ovrutski si è trasferito a New York cinque/sei anni fa. La grande mela è una città che offre a tutti la possibilità di confrontarsi con tutti, a cominciare proprio da altri immigrati che hanno la mente aperta e la voglia di trovare nuovi spunti provenienti da altre culture. E di mischiarli con le proprie conoscenze. In questo modo le culture si fondono fra loro e compiono passi avanti.

Quindi non ci dobbiamo meravigliare più di tanto della ottima intesa musicale e umana che si è formata fra il bassista ucraino e il batterista-percussionista brasiliano Duduka Da Fonseca. Una intesa che dà qui buoni frutti mettendo in campo anche i flauti e le ance di Craig Handy e Jorge Contingentino e il pianoforte vellutato di Helio Alves.

Il repertorio è tutto originale e tutto firmato dal bassista e miscela abbastanza bene le diverse influenze (si va da Hindemith alla musica brasiliana...) per arrivare ad un jazz contemporaneo piacevole ma mai abrasivo.
