Leggendo nelle note di copertina di questo CD che "This project has been a project of love" è legittimo pensare ad una delle solite iperboli che accompagnano buona parte dei dischi. Poi all`ascolto dei primi tre-quattro brani ci si rende conto che è la pura verità. La gamma stilistica varia: se l`iniziale "I`ve Waited Long Enough" vede pure un assolo del chitarrista Bill Kopper che si ispira a Django Reinhard, nei brani successivi la cosa cambia, ad esempio in "Solomon Sang" di Cassandra Wilson, o nel pop raffinato di "You`re a Big Boy Now" di Bob Dylan, o nello swing di "Close Your Eyes". Ogni brano è ben pensato, ed eseguito da una band che sa cambiare atmosfera con perizia restando credibile, che ci si muova sul mainstream o su cose più moderne.
Ad esempio "This Is Always," che parte lenta e misteriosa nell`introduzione, per poi rivelarsi in una ballad sensuale. Si procede così con una voce di alto livello, molto comunicativa, che fa accendere l`attenzione specie del pubblico maschile. Tutto è gestito con cura e meticolosità, ed appare tuttavia molto attraente per il sapiente cambio di colori e la scelta dei brani. Tre di questi sono stati scritti per quest`album da Casey Collins e Eric Moon.
So Sure forse non avrà il successo di vendita delle cantanti che vanno per la maggiore, ma ha il pregio di farsi ascoltare, fornendo un intrattenimento raffinato.
