Kris Davis and the Lutoslawski Quartet: The Solastalgia Suite
Incisi in unica sessione il 23 novembre 2024 su commissione del polacco Jazztopad Festival, questi tre quarti d'ora di musica presentano infatti situazioni in cui il taglio— diciamo così—eurocolto prevale, per tono, timbriche e dinamiche, ma pur sempre provenendo da una penna di imprinting squisitamente jazzistico, per quanto in ottica allargata (e non è neppure detto che la componente aleatorio-improvvisativa non vi giochi un qualche ruolo), fra episodi più densi, fitti, grumosi, e sedimentazioni di tensione prossime all'integralità.
L'autrice, in più momenti, si fa da parte, valorizzando quindi il suo ruolo, appunto, compositivo, col quartetto Lutoslawski a tessere le sue trame fatte di intersezioni aggrovigliate, a tratti quasi violente, ma nel contempo di una nitidezza, di una pulizia timbrica che lascia abbacinati.
Un'opera, lo dicevamo, in cui le ambizioni, palpabili, trovano precisa risposta sul campo. Non accade poi così di frequente.
