This show is highlighted by Portuguese bassist Carlos Bica's latest release on Clean Feed—Playing With Beethoven. Bica creates some very unexpected music. No one expected to hear em>Evenings At The Village Gate: John Coltrane With Eric Dolphy; the original recording sat undiscovered for many years. But it's now available and there's a great deal of buzz about the album. There are other fine saxophonist featured: James Brandon Lewis and a preview track from his latest with his Red Lily Quintet, Europeans Liba Villavecchia from Spain, Slawek Pezda from Poland, Italy's Francesco Bearzatti riffing on Led Zeppelin, Frenchman Daniel Erdmann on the Bica album,, Danish veteran Jesper Zeuthen, the badly under-recorded Mark Reboul from NYC, and Darius Jones with some very challenging improv. Other new Clean Feed releases get sampled too. Reed Up!!!
