La filosofia di questo album si potrebbe sintetizzare così. Continuate a criticare e sparare a zero sullo straight ahead jazz, figlio primogenito della rivoluzione bebop, definendolo una musica morta senza futuro? Eccovi allora servita una band, Rebop Union, un nome un programma, e un CD, Blue Notes, che è più di un richiamo ad una delle stagioni più felici di quella musica.

Provocazione per provocazione potremmo dire dell’album le solite mille cose: che è suonato benissimo, che tutti i musicisti hanno una tecnica invidiabile, che l’interplay è perfetto, che la loro conoscenza del linguaggio jazzistico è fuori discussione, che le composizioni sono ben articolate, che i tempi veloci si alternano da copione a brani dall’andamento lento, che sembra proprio di sentire i campioni del bebop..

Per l’appunto... Di copie fatte con la carta carbone la storia, o meglio, il mercato del jazz sono costellati. Il consiglio è quello di rivolgersi ad un buon negozio di dischi e recuperare la freschezza, la genialità e l’estrema attualità delle incisioni originali.
