Theo Bleckmann - Ben Monder: At Night
Ed è forse questo il limite principale dell'album. Il richiamo agli anni '70 non si limita infatti ad un gusto vagamente retro, ma si appoggia decisamente a quelle esperienze e non fornisce, a nostro avviso, alcun contributo o rilettura particolarmente originale.
Nell'album c'è molta dolcezza, forse un vago sapore nostalgico, anche se i musicisti, per ovvie ragioni anagrafiche, non hanno vissuto quegli anni. Ma originalità no. E questo, in un lavoro che vorrebbe essere "sperimentale", è peccato mortale.
A conferma di ciò, sottolineiamo che i frammenti più interessanti dell'album sono quelli che arrivano direttamente dagli anni '70. Sunny Sunday di Joni Mitchell e Norwegian Wood dei Beatles, cui aggiungiamo, per correttezza, anche una traccia originale: Orchard di Bleckmann. Il resto è trascurabile. Tre amici che si ritrovano nel soggiorno di casa, imbracciano gli strumenti e si abbandonano a ricordi e nostalgie di un periodo che forse avrebbero voluto vivere.
