It's baseball seasonsort ofso I guess you could say this episode of OMJ touches a lot of bases. The NY underground scene gets explored a bit via 70's Loft pioneer Alan Braufman who has a new release, while more recent practitioners of the outside get sampledOwl Xounds Exploding Galaxy and Scurvy. Today's Jaimie Branch is here too with Anteloper. There's some Afro-Cuban/Yoruba music from England, no less, in the person of tenor player Kevin Haynes, while fellow Brit veteran Trevor Watts contributes his pandemic-response of solo music. A somewhat unusual pairing is that of German woodwind maestro Steffen Schorn with the Norwegian Wind Ensemble AND Brazilian icon Hermeto Pascoal. And, as always, plenty more representing the international scope of creative improvised music.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
