It took me a while to get pianist Joshua White's album 13 Short Stories but it was worth the wait. White and his West Coast quartet are very, very good. The Australian Art Orchestra has become an institution in the Australian creative music scene. They're now directed by trumpeter and composer Peter Knight; their latest, Sometimes ...

One could almost make the case that this episode is a reverse sandwich, with the filling on the outside, considering the first tracks from a sizzling hot Vijay Anderson Trio and the windup tune from pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn and her fine band of Mary Halvorson, Michael Formanek, Mark Feldman and Ryan Sawyer. Read "Broun Fellinis, Eric Revis, Luke Stewart and More" reviewed by Maurice Hogue

A trip to the mystical island of Boohaabia (you know, the one near the Oasis of Surprise), is the final stop in this show, courtesy of the Broun Fellinis, but before arriving to destination there are stops at several great new releases, like those of American bassists Eric Revis' excellent Slip Knots Through a Looking Glass ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
