Xiomara: Xiomara
Con l’aiuto dello stesso Levin e di una manciata di amici esordisce con un omonimo disco in cui la lezione del Buena Vista Social Club, se ce ne fosse ancora bisogno, viene internazionalizzata e riattualizzata con aromi musicali i più disparati e modaioli.
Dalla tradizione folk cubana, al jazz, al funk o alle combinazioni “santane”, il CD vive di dieci momenti sospesi e eleganti, un po’ “raffreddati”. Da salotto cubano, insomma (“La Llave”, “Port Ti” che sembra una nuova “Volver”, “De Mis Recuerdos” e “La Habana Joven”, entrambe canzoni di uno dei più importanti musicisti cubani, Juan Formell ).
Via la polvere, l’odore acre dei sigari e quello meno accomodante del sudore, qui l’eleganza negli arrangiamenti, le soluzioni patinate regnano sovrane e fanno piazza pulita dell’improvvisazione.
