Julian Shore: Which Way Now?
L'inizio è promettente. Archi che aprono gentilmente le danze, sinuosi e senza smancerie, accordi di pianoforte che introducono la melodia, il dialogo tra le parti intimista, ricco di suggestioni, evocativo, con piccole anomalie che esaltano l'armonioso incedere complessivo.

Poi Wich Way Now si incanala verso un'esercizio di stile. Tutto perfettamente calibrato, la precisione di un orologio svizzero, nessuna sbavatura, nessuna concessione all'imprevisto e alla sorpresa. Musicisti impeccabili, sonorità che non disturbano l'orecchio, dosi di zucchero e miele sufficiente a impastare i denti.

Dovrebbe colpire al cuore Wich Way Now?, sciogliere l'ascoltatore in languidi sogni, dolci passioni, romantiche illusioni, ma per lo più scivola via senza scossoni. Certo non mancano momenti nei quali il quintetto esce dal tracciato, le sortite solistiche prendono coraggio, gli arrangiamenti cercano una maggior multidimensionalità, ma sono piccole fiammate che si perdono nel tranquillo, rassicurante incedere complessivo.
