La voce di Marta Raviglia e il trombone 'dalla voce umana' di Tony Cattano, si incontrano in un disco intitolato appunto Vocione, che prende a prestito un pò tutto quello che c'è nel mondo della musica: non solo il jazz di Monk, di cui sono interpretati tre brani in una medley, ma anche la bossa nova di Jobim, la filastrocca del folklore laziale, lo spiritual, Scarlatti, Bartok ed ovviamente qualche original.

L'esperienza di cantanti dell'avanguardia come Jay Collins o Lauren Newton, o di trombonisti che si sono esibiti volentieri senza accompagnamento - Paul Rutherford, Albert Mangelsdorff - fanno da possibile riferimento per il procedere dei due. Cattano usa molto le sordine, Marta Raviglia canta spesso storpiando le parole ed aggiungendovi suoni eterodossi: è un tipo di ricerca che solo apparantemente si ricollega al meglio dell'avanguardia. Qualcosa, non solo in termini di accompagnamento e di sezione ritmica, manca per arrivare a quei livelli di espressione. Non si pensi comunque ad un disco noioso o bloccato dalla volontà di fare sperimentazione a tutti i costi. Prendendo qua e là dai suoni del mondo globalizzato, i due musicisti iniettano la propria sensibilità in scenari eterodossi, ed alla fine divertenti, dimostrando con abilità cosa sia possibile fare con partiture, strumenti e capacità di improvvisare.
