Jeremy Pelt: Tomorrow's Another Day
In sede compositiva, gli dà una bella mano Deantoni Parks, autore (nonché produttore) di tre degli otto brani complessivi, primo, quinto e settimo, emblematicamente intitolato al grande Jean-Michel Basquiat. Il meglio del disco, inciso a Long Island nel settembre 2023, sta in effetti nella sua pancia, specificatamente nei brani che vanno dal terzo al sesto, dove più eloquentemente sembra trovar posto il cuore della musica peltiana, offerta sempre in impeccabile veste formale, anche grazie ai sapori timbrici che sanno offrirle chitarra elettrica e vibrafono.
Alla fine si rimane senz'altro appagati da quanto il quintetto (allargato a sestetto in due brani con l'ingresso delle tastiere di Frank LoCrasto) ci propone: una musica senza troppe problematiche ma neppure banale, almeno nel suo svolgersi. Disco, quindi, assolutamente paradigmatico di una via al jazz dei giorni nostri che, seppur non particolarmente innovativo, sa dire la sua con assoluta convinzione, competenza e cognizione di causa (e anche una certa felicità inventiva).
