Fu un concerto di free Jazz improvvisato, completamente diverso dal mainstream tipico del panorama jazzistico austriaco dell'epoca. Un'eccezione, insomma.
Il nostro Sessantotto a Vienna ebbe luogo in realtà nel 1976, quando occupammo un ex mattatoio in St. Marx - lo chiamavamo l'Arena - per trasformarlo in un centro culturale alternativo (per musica, teatro, conferenze, esibizioni...). Fu un importante movimento culturale che si opponeva all'ottusità dell'amministrazione cittadina, e molti vi presero parte: Bill Dixon, Franz Koglmann, Alan Silva, Steve Horenstein, Walter Malli - e che ebbe un'influenza duratura sull'emancipazione di Vienna per quanto riguarda il jazz.
Al confronto, il vero 1968 non ha lasciato nulla di altrettanto significativo. L'occupazione durò quattro mesi, poi l'edificio fu demolito.
