Viktor Toth: Tartim
Nelle prime cinque tracce, eseguite in trio con Hamid Drake e Matyas Szandai (ottimo!), la musica si muove lungo coordinate chicagoane. Brani che si sviluppano intorno alla pulsione ritmica, secondo un'estetica più vicina al DKV Trio che alla Mittel-Europa.
A partire dalla sesta traccia, al trio si unisce la tromba di Ferenc Kovacs. Qui la musica assume colorazioni più vicine al territorio. Si rimane saldamente nel jazz (Tisztáson evoca chiaramente Ornette Coleman), ma qua e là si colgono echi gitani, balcanici, a tratti anche klezmer.
Nelle ultime quattro tracce il gruppo si arricchisce ulteriormente, con la viola di Adam Javorka, le percussioni di Gyorgy Jeszenszky ed il sax soprano di Mihaly Dresch e la musica perde ogni struttura pre-definita. I brani sono in realtà improvvisazioni collettive. L'energia della prima parte dell'album lascia spazio ad un incedere più cauto, inevitabile quando il numero degli improvvisatori è così elevato, tra profumi d'oriente ed ambientazioni eurocolte.
Un gran bel disco, che conferma ancora una volta l'estrema vitalità della scena jazzistica ungherese.
