Outhead: Send this Sound to the King
Un ensemble senz'altro effervescente, vitale, questo quartetto con doppio sax attivo nella Bay Area di San Francisco le cui voci-guida sono Alex Weiss e Charlie Gurke, che oltre tutto si dividono equamente la paternità dei brani presenti nel disco: tre a testa (il settimo, "A Made Truth," peraltro il più debole del lotto, si deve al batterista Dillon Westbrook).

Nulla di particolarmente nuovo sotto il sole, per carità, ma comunque un jazz fresco e brillante, un post-bop aggiornato e piuttosto tirato il cui ascolto gratifica magari più l'orecchio che il cervello, senza in ogni caso svilire mai neppure quest'ultimo. Il brano più originale e gustoso risulta a conti fatti l'ultimo "Uncle Ho," di Gurke (titolo volutamente post-zappiano?), con voci e strumenti a rincorrersi in una sorta di anomalo canone multiforme.
