Exactly one day after the funeral of his beloved wife, and urged by friends and family, Polish saxophonist Leszek Żądło along with bassist Andrzej Cudzich and drummer Janusz Stefanski entered Studio Stebo in Krakow, Poland in 1995 and recorded some very emotional and powerful music. Finally released, that recording is the feature on this week's episode of One Man's Jazz. Żądło's wife, actress Barbara Kwiatkowska had unexpectedly died a month earlier. Their story is one for the movies: saxophonist meets actress (once married to Roman Polanski); they fall in love; saxophonist passes on a full-ride scholarship to Berklee to stay with wife; they are both politically active anti-communists and then quite involved in the ensuing Solidarity Movement.
