Javier Girotto: New York Sessions
Ma Girotto è musicista intelligente, ed ha quindi deciso di cambiare gioco, registrando un album che partendo dagli echi di casa (Che Querido, CHE) sposta poi la musica verso altri territori. Lo fa in compagnia di un solidissimo trio statunitense, che aiuta il sassofonista argentino a spostare il baricentro della sua musica verso il nord del continente americano. Ovvero, ad aggiungere una solida componente jazzistica (in particolare a livello di scomposizioni ritmiche e strutture accordali) ad una musica che mantiene comunque intatta una fortissima componente melodica, un retrogusto nostalgico, una congenita malinconia.
E poi c'è lo stile particolarissimo e personalissimo di Girotto. Una voce strumentale corruscata anche nei momenti più dolci, il sax in perenne trazione, a guidare tempi e direzioni di una band che asseconda molto bene le intenzioni del leader.
