Miles narration is from his autobiography "Miles: The Autobiography," which was published in 1989. Levar Burton read the audiobook version of the autobiography and it's his voice you'll hear as Miles.
Miles Davis collaborations with Gil Evans in the late 1950s are some of the most remarkable recordings of the entire jazz canon. "Miles Ahead," "Porgy and Bess" and "Sketches of Spain" provided us with some of the most hauntingly beautiful music ever created.
His second quintet, often featuring the modal compositions of Wayne Shorter, paved the way for small group jazz in the decades that followed, and led to Miles' embrace of fusion.
Miles' commentary on the music and the musicians provides a fascinating insight into the making of some of the most impactful music in jazz.
