Ben tre delle rassegne attive nel corso della stagione attuale presso l'Auditorium romano (la Chitarra, Solo e Contemporanea) convergono nel concerto del chitarrista francese Marc Ducret. Sempre attivo in particolar modo nei settori dell'improvvisazione e dell'avanguardia, Ducret è noto soprattutto per la sua lunga collaborazione col sassofonista Tim Berne. Per il concerto di Roma si è presentato da solo con la sua chitarra elettrica e una dotazione minimale di effetti, dei quali ha utilizzato principalmente distorsore e pedale del volume.

Il primo brano eseguito, 'Detail,' è anche l'unico presentato con un nome; già a partire dal successivo, Ducret ammette che non sa cosa suonerà dopo. Improvvisazione totale, dunque, all'insegna di una ricerca timbrica fatta di tanti frammenti sonori apparentemente scollegati, che si ricompongono a poco a poco in un puzzle multiforme. Il chitarrista usa tutti i colori della sua tavolozza, svariando dal bop al free, dal rock al rumore, per una durata complessiva di poco più di un'ora. La sua è una proposta musicale dichiaratamente di nicchia, apprezzabile quasi esclusivamente da chi professa l'improvvisazione globale e la rinuncia agli schemi tradizionali, e come tale va presa.

L'impegno è notevole, sia da parte del chitarrista che dell'ascoltatore, e la radicalità del genere è tale da scoraggiare chi non sia già avvezzo ad avventurarsi in questi territori, ma il concerto rimane comunque una testimonianza importante dell'attività di un musicista di frontiera, impegnato ad estendere i confini dell'udibile sul suo strumento.
