Raffaelli evita senza impaccio una leziosità sempre in agguato dietro ogni pagina. Ne scaturisce così un disco improntato a una sinuosità poetica e delicata, con sfumature tra le più varie e suggestive: ne sono ispirati esempi l'introspezione di "Henry," la fragranza di "Malastrana" e "Improvviso," lo scatto di "Tempus fugit".
Il pianista controlla con rigore l'eloquio ma non cade mai nell'astrazione, lasciando affiorare un lirismo intenso, un energia sotterranea, grazie al walking bass della mano sinistra.
Curiosa la cover di "New York State of Mind" che emerge tra le maglie del jazz e degli stilemi classici.
