Al suo fianco il giovane collega (classe '78) Michael Wollny, diplomato al conservatorio proprio con una tesi sull'improvvisazione di Kuhn. Maestro ed allievo a confronto, dove l'imperiosa cascata accordale al servizio di una concentrata prova virtuosistica si situa in un flusso irregolare e dilatato.
Una sapienza strumentale che tende a trovare un sound comune, piuttosto che contrapporsi in un gioco di rincorsa ad effetto. Ad unirli e rendere possibile questa registrazione, una data in duo al festival di Schloss Elmau, nell'ottobre scorso.
Ne nacquero un set ed una prova votati all'eccellenza artistica, che fanno leva sia sulla libera improvvisazione che sul puro gesto melodico. Due musicisti complementari, che si impongono per la varietà di idee incastonate in flusso fluttuante.
Ne discende un 'opera di grande respiro, dall'originale e suggestivo taglio trasversale tra mondo contemporaneo eurocolto e spirito jazzistico.
