Le Saxtet – Tiza Brown: Le Saxtet & Tiza Brown

Mettete insieme una medium band svizzera con cinque sassofoni e trio ritmico, dedita a una rilettura oleata quanto effervescente del real book, e una soul singer neroamericana che si autoritrae come una sorta di Barry White in gonnella; affidate loro una quindicina di classicissimi del jazz (e non solo): che cosa può venirne fuori? Per esempio un disco della disarmante insignificanza di questo Le Saxtet & Tiza Brown, inutile come pochi, anche se - per carità - ognuno è libero di suonare (in maniera d'altro canto ineccepibile) la musica che preferisce, e persino di immortalarla attraverso un CD.

Resta il fatto che di prodotti rassicuranti e pedissequi come questo non si avvertirebbe proprio la mancanza. Vi si salvano almeno in parte certi episodi solo strumentali ("Yardbird Suite," su tutti, mentre, di converso, il peggio sembra proprio arrivare col multivocale "Call the Police"), senza che mai ci si elevi al di sopra di una dignitosa routine. Un disco, in buona sostanza, che non sapremmo proprio a chi consigliare.
