Gerry Hemingway, OM and Perelman/Sharp/Baptista

Click the play button to listen

It doesn't matter which side of the Atlantic Ocean you consider when talking about master drummer Gerry Hemingway, he is highly respected as one of the most creative drummers ever. Now making his home in Altbüron, Switzerland, Hemingway's focus tends to be on European projects, like his latest Live at Bau 4 with his quartet of pianist Izumi Kimura, saxophonist Frank Gratkowski & bassist Christian Weber. They recorded the album at Bau 4, a performing space in an Altbüron lumber complex. Hemingway at his finest! He's also on the latest from Om, the Swiss powerhouse band for over 50 years. Hemingway is one of two drummers who replaced the original OM drummer, Fredy Studer, who passed away in 2022. Ivo Perelman hooks up with sound master Elliott Sharp & percussionist Cyro Baptista for the stirring Triacontagon. Other albums debuting in this episode are Joe Fiedler's Sackbut, The Phoenix Trio (Mark Turner, Joe Martin & Marcus Gilmore), Italian drummer Massimo Barbiero joined by German trumpeter Markus Stockhausen, and A Revolving Alliance from drummer Matt Slocum. The latter features rising star guitarist Emmanuel Michael. Much more great music as well. Enjoy!
