L’assenza di qualsiasi segno scritto sulla copertina del CD, invasa da strane forme geometriche che contornano opalescenti mosaici vitrei è più che un indizio sul tipo di musica contenuta in For, quarto album del gruppo dopo Claudia Quintet, I e Semi-Formal. Contorni stilistici sfumati, zone timbriche che si addensano in alcune aree e si frammentano in una miriade di colori in altre, scansioni metriche che sfuggono alle canoniche leggi ritmiche.
Scomparso l’effetto sorpresa dei primi album, che crearono un piacevole scompiglio nella comunità jazzistica, la musica del Claudia Quintet sembra aver cristallizzato alcune sue peculiarità, trasformando in norma quelle che erano imprevedibilità e una certa dose di follia creativa.
Restano a disposizione dell’ascoltatore un suono immediatamente riconoscibile, dai contorni elettronici nonostante la fonte assolutamente acustica, e una cifra stilistica che miscela le sottigliezze timbriche della musica da camera con la libertà interpretativa del free jazz, ipnotiche sequenze di trance music con i respiri di uno strumento popolare per eccellenza come la fisarmonica.
