Andreas Bohlen Band: Cruise

I quattro protagonisti di Cruise, benché suonino insieme da oltre dieci anni, sono all'album di debutto. Serietà, meditata progettualità, estrema confidenza con il materiale compositivo e telepatico interplay dovrebbero essere quindi assicurati. Ed in effetti queste qualità emergono chiaramente all'ascolto di Cruise, come si apprezza il suono confortevole del contralto di Andreas Bohlen, leader del quartetto e autore di sette degli otto brani che compongono il CD. Come altrettanto apprezzabile è la chitarra del fratello Sebastian, vellutata, mai sopra le righe con la ritmica di Jakob Dreyer al basso e Severin Rauch alla batteria a interpretare con estrema sensibilità i diversi momenti dell'incisione.

Il clima generale è caratterizzato da una souplesse esecutiva palpabile anche nei momenti ritmicamente sostenuti. Talvolta gli studi e le esperienze di musica classica del leader affiorano in qualche cadenza interpretativa, in qualche particolare della sua scrittura ma la cornice è decisamente jazzistica con buone fasi di improvvisazione nel rispetto di architetture compositive ben delineate. Nel complesso Cruise è disco di piacevole ascolto, una sorta di scacciapensieri che non provoca particolari brividi, che non scatena chissà quali emozioni ma potrebbe funzionare da ideale compagno di viaggio per una gita fuori porta.
