Andrea Ferrario: Volo notturno
L’ironia di Ferrario, che ha composto la maggior parte dei brani, viene fuori in pezzi come “Mi manca Monk”, un saluto scanzonato e affettuoso al leggendario pianista, dove il sassofonista gioca attorno a una piccola cellula melodica. Nelle improvvisazioni si inserisce qualche citazione. Il pianoforte emerge nella ballad “Neo irideo”, dove costruisce un dialogo con il sax che contribuisce a creare quell’atmosfera notturna che dà il titolo all’album. Nei temi latin trova spazio la chitarra, accompagnata dalle percussioni, ma il sassofonista resta il protagonista indiscusso del disco.
Nel complesso Volo notturno offre un ascolto vario, piacevole, anche se probabilmente il quintetto avrebbe potuto permettere una maggiore libertà negli arrangiamenti. Ma per Ferrario, classe 1973, la carriera discografica è appena iniziata, e sembra possa proseguire su una buona strada.
