Dopo il disco dal vivo con cui ha esordito per la ECM, il chitarrista ungherese Ferenc Snetberger ritorna con un nuovo lavoro, questa volta in trio con il contrabbassista Anders Jormin e il batterista Joey Baron. La presenza di una sezione ritmica rende l'elemento jazzistico più marcato che nel precedente lavoro realizzato in solitudine, e fa scoprire un nuovo lato musicale del chitarrista, già esplorato in passato con l'album Nomad del 2005, realizzato con un trio analogo insieme a Arild Andersen e Paolo Vinaccia.

Anche in questa formazione il tono caldo della chitarra di Snetberger emerge in tutte le sue sfumature, frutto della sintesi di educazione classica e esuberanza tzigana espresse attraverso l'improvvisazione di tipo jazzistico. I brani, tutti firmati dal chitarrista, fanno risaltare da un lato la sua vena melodica sempre brillante e coinvolgente, e dall'altro mettono in evidenza lo stretto interplay con Jormin, il cui contrabbasso agisce come un perfetto complemento della chitarra. La sensibilità di Baron, che con il suo gioco di piatti e spazzole offre un accompagnamento delicato ma solido allo stesso tempo, contribuisce all'ottima riuscita dell'album.

Se le composizioni del chitarrista risultano affascinanti nel loro sviluppo melodico pur senza deviare da un andamento abbastanza tradizionale, la vera misura delle potenzialità del trio viene dai brevi brani posti in apertura (i primi due) e chiusura (gli ultimi tre) del CD, risultato di improvvisazioni collettive (ad eccezione dell'ultimo per sola chitarra) che mostrano quanto stretto sia il legame tra i tre musicisti, e la loro capacità di reagire in modo pressoché istantaneo agli stimoli che si rilanciano reciprocamente. Sicuramente una grande prova di compattezza e creatività, che andrebbe forse verificata in una situazione dal vivo; non sappiamo se il trio continuerà ad esistere in questa formazione, ma visto quanto sono stati capaci di realizzare con questo lavoro ci auguriamo senz'altro di riascoltarli molto presto.
