Ingrid Laubrock: The Last Quiet Place
Qui la stessa conformazione del sestetto protagonista del lavoro, con ben quattro strumenti a corde di cui tre ad arco, ci fa intendere quali fitti e variegati intrecci di elementi lessicali ed espressivi sottendano l'operato della sassofonista e dei suoi (nonché sue, considerato che il gruppo è equamente diviso fra i due sessi), una sorta di camerismo nervoso, attraversato da non rare asprezze e corporeità ma nel contempo giocato spesso attorno a una concezione contrappuntistica che deve pur significare qualcosa.
C'è quindi di che godere durante questi quarantanove minuti di musica tirata e mai banale, mai derivativa o creativamente supina. L'agire della leader, al tenore come al soprano, governa l'operato globale, entro le cui maglie, peraltro, ogni membro si muove totalmente a suo agio, nonché—si direbbe proprio—gratificato nelle proprie ambizioni anche individuali. Che non vuol dire individualistiche, attenzione, perché la ricchezza (la complessità, pure) strutturale non consente che ci si guardi mai allo specchio, nel rispetto, invece, di una coralità che tutto sovrintende e illumina, a sua volta da ciascuno illuminata.
Disco da non lasciarsi scappare, e quindi album della settimana.
