Gordon Grdina's East Van Strings: The Breathing of Statues
I brani, tutti composti dal chitarrista, spaziano dalla melodia struggente dell'iniziale 'Selma' e di 'Naveli Joon' alle note laceranti di 'Webern' o 'Silence of Paintings,' per trovare la loro espressione più compiuta nei due lunghi brani che concludono il disco, il secondo dei quali registrato dal vivo. Qui il chitarrista dimostra tutta la sua originalità, fondendo il suono del suo oud con lo sfondo degli archi, sintetizzando compiutamente e mirabilmente tutte le influenze che hanno contribuito a formare la sua musica.
Sicuramente un ottimo esordio per questa formazione che speriamo di ritrovare presto con nuovi lavori di questo livello.
