Michael Losch: Song for her
La scrittura di Losch - tutti i temi sono suoi tranne l'ultimo - si muove tra robusto swing e leggera funkyness, privilegiando arrangiamenti ariosi che giocano sui contrasti tra le sezioni. L'orchestra ha un suono compatto e funge da ottima vetrina per i solisti (l'Hammond del leader, il contrabbasso di Stefano Colpi, il sax tenore di Renzo De Rossi). Calibrati e perfettamente integrati nel discorso collettivo gli interventi dei due ospiti, in particolare Sandro Gibellini, autore di un paio di assoli magistrali nel controllo di timbri e dinamiche.
Il disco suona fresco e godibile, anche se qua e là emerge qualche cliché di troppo, soprattutto negli arrangiamenti. Tanto da far preferire, dopo ripetuti ascolti, gli unici momenti di apertura verso forme più libere: la parte iniziale di "Stress", con un coinvolgente dialogo tra il contralto di Florian Brambock e l'intera orchestra, e la sezione centrale di "Fast Food".
La scarsità di informazioni contenute nel libretto del disco - quasi uno standard ormai per molte case discografiche - non permette di stabilire con esattezza i nomi di tutti i solisti.
