Gochag Askarov: Sacred World of Azerbaijani Mugham

Superbi strumentali che s'insinuano negli interstizi lasciati liberi da una vocalità fin troppo invasiva (anche perché fisiologicamente monocorde, fra il lamentoso e il sussultorio): ecco cosa ci offre questo ennesimo album-tributo alla musica azera operato da Felmay. Fascino indiscutibile, e magari anche un po' di stanchezza all'ascolto di brani tutti di una certa consistenza (dagli otto ai diciotto minuti) e densità, entro i quali, come si accennava, sono le sezioni strumentali, sempre timbricamente preziose e ritmicamente cangianti, a far lievitare la qualità della musica.

Vi confluiscono gli strumenti tipici della musica azera, soprattutto un'autentica selva di corde (tar, ud, kamancha, qanun) che s'intersecano senza ripensamenti, sempre impeccabili ed eleganti anche nelle evoluzioni più virtuosistiche e vorticose, e poi ance (balaban) e percussioni (naghara), a generare un flusso sonoro sempre pregnante, scintillante e rotondo nel contempo. La voce vi si stende sopra con ammirevole costanza, anche se, come detto, sono i momenti (anche generosi, a volte) in cui si fa da parte quelli che più ci fanno amare questo disco, inciso dal vivo a Baku nell'aprile 2012.
