Onofrio Paciulli: Musicopoli
Il suo Musicopoli propone un set canonico nei modi - brani autografi e standard tra i più frequentati - ma tutt'altro che scontato nei risultati, dal momento che la seduta di registrazione - ragionata attorno a un neobop fresco e vitale - rivela un affiatamento di sicuro spessore tra i musicisti, in grado di sviluppare jazz godibile e dal percorso espressivo interessante.
Ben due gli episodi che vedono il leader muoversi in perfetta solitudine: "Body and Soul," affrontata con decisione, personalità e spiccato senso dell'improvvisazione; e "Caravan," sbriciolata e rincollata con piglio di grande padronanza nei propri mezzi.
Inoltre, sono da rimarcare, tra i brani autografi, le trascinanti spigolature melodiche di "Hardworking" e le intuizioni d'arrangiamento di "United Songs," trascinante e velatamente insidiosa, mentre tra i musicisti che accompagnano Paciulli tra i vicoli di Musicopoli sa aggiudicarsi parecchi asterischi di nota il saxofonista canadese Robert Bonisolo.
