Luca Donini Quartet: Live in USA
In scaletta troviamo solo tracce originali - cinque su otto firmate dal leader - che mostrano il profondo feeling tra i componenti della band e il loro saper sviluppare jazz poggiandosi su un'intenzione che prende spunto dal funk e da matrici stilistiche lontane, che danno vita a una musicalità varia e affascinante.
Miscela che trova momenti di tensione e atmosfere più pensose, situazioni slegate da formalità di facciata ("Raft") e melodie più levigate ("Danza dei sogni"). Melodie che scaturiscono dalle linee guida dettate dal sax di Donini, capace di trascinare l'ascoltatore - attraverso assoli di rara bellezza - per sentieri suggestivi e intriganti, come nella zigzagante "Colline," e dalla chitarra di David Cremoni, il quale riesce a restituire ai brani un certo retrogusto elettrico che non guasta e rende il tutto più intrigante.
Album dal percorso mai scontato, pieno di piccole sorprese, gradite e sottolineate dagli applausi del pubblico lasciati nella registrazione.
