Il meglio del 2016 secondo Luca Canini

Un anno di ascolti. Di musica, di amori, scoperte e delusioni. Nel segno di Henry Threadgill e del suo Old Locks and Irregular Verbs, il punto più alto toccato in dodici mesi che hanno riservato più di una bella sorpresa. Sia in ambito strettamente "jazz," da Nels Cline a Wadada Leo Smith, da Cristiano Calcagnile a Piero Bittolo Bon, dagli Hobby Horse a Roscoe Mitchell, sia in quei territori che stanno al confine tra l'improvvisazione radicale, la musica elettronica, l'avanguardia e il rock sperimentale. Un nome su tutti: Jim O'Rourke, che disco dopo disco, collaborazione dopo collaborazione, meraviglia dopo meraviglia, si sta piazzando sempre più al centro del vero e del giusto.

Menzione di merito anche per Steve Lehman e per la sua incrollabile fede nella possibilità di raccontare il presente senza rimpianti o pose, guardandolo dritto negli occhi, rischiando e sbagliando se necessario. Una lezione, comunque la si pensi, da tenere a mente.
