About the Album
On Jagged Edges & Elegant Lines, acclaimed composer Ayn Inserto conducts the renowned WDR Big Band in a concert of her powerful music for large ensemble. The live recording showcases four commissioned pieces that form a suite as well as selections from the Inserto songbook. Recorded in Cologne, the suite was written for and features virtuoso trumpeter Sean Jones. With her exciting and intricate writing, Inserto has become one of the most creative voices in big band music. In “The Artist,” one of the four suite movements, Jones’ luminous, fluid horn towers above a knockout big band performance.
