About the Album
The supremely swinging pianist Mike Jones dazzles on Mike Jones With Strings, a live album recorded at Vic’s Supper Club in Las Vegas with a drummerless trio featuring guitarist Graham Dechter and bassist Alex Frank. The deep dive into the Great American Songbook is a joyful masterpiece of jazz from start to finish. The opening track, a spirited version of Gershwin’s “Lady Be Good,” shows Jones in fine pianistic form, swinging with ease, panache, and breathtaking skill.
