About the Album
During the Covid-19 crisis, composer/pianist Satoko Fujii tried to imagine the world after the pandemic. On After the Storm, that hopeful vision comes to vivid sonic life in the capable hands of her Orchestra Kobe. Presented in four parts, “After the Storm” showcases Fujii’s singular music performed by a group of stellar musicians, including her husband, trumpeter Natsuki Tamura. He and drummer Yoshikazu Isaki are the featured soloists on Part 3, which begins with tentative subdued rumbling and growling and grows into fiery, frenetic brilliance.
