Sten Sandell: Gubbröra
La prima sequenza è un lungo drone di chitarra (Stackenas), interrogativo, esplorativo.
Poi l'apertura al confronto con il pianoforte (Sandell). Una formula poco frequentata nella free-music, che dà frutti curiosi, quanto meno sotto il punto di vista timbrico.
Il fluire del dialogo privilegia la lentezza, l'accostamento riflessivo di note punteggiate o raggruppate in frasi atonali. Un cerimoniale sonoro che alterna lampi di intuizioni felici, ma non sa evitare il pericolo della routine.
La seconda parte dello stesso brano vede Stackenas per lo più in solitudine, attorcigliato in una improvvisazione errabonda, memore di Derek Bailey.
"Gubbröra" (34 minuti..) è del quintetto al completo. L'autorevolezza di Parker, Guy e Lytton arricchisce il vocabolario di gruppo e scioglie un magma di musica i cui rivoli scorrono paralleli, alternando quiete e furia.
Una prova tra le tante dell'improvvisazione europea.
