Disco a cui sono arrivato dopo aver letto il libro di George Lewis "A Power Stronger Than Itself".
02. Conlon Nancarrow - Player Piano Studies (Wergo - 2000).
Box di cinque CD con note di James Tenney. Uno dei mie preferiti di sempre.
03. James Tenney - Postal Pieces (New World Records - 2004).
Conoscevo alcuni di questi brani, altri mi erano sconosciuti. Alcuni sono splendidi, alcuni interessanti, altri privi di interesse.
04. Jamie Saft Trio - Trouble: The Jamie Saft Trio Plays Bob Dylan (Tzadik - 2006).
Covers di Dylan. Mike Patton canta una versione micidiale di "Ballad of a Thin Man".
05. John Cage - Sonatas & Interludes (Naxos - 1999).
Un altro dei miei preferiti di sempre.
06. Mark Dresser - Guts (Kadima Collective - 2010).
Solo CD (e DVD). Ratzo Harris, con il quale sto suonando parecchio in questo periodo, lo stava recensendo e voleva una mia opinione. Entusiasmante.
07. Frank Zappa - Strictly Commercial (Rykodisc - 1995).
Contiene alcuni dei miei brani preferiti mai sentiti prima, come "Cosmik Debris" e soprattutto "Fine Girl".
08. Margaret Leng Tan - She Herself Alone (Mode - 2010).
Brani di diversi compositori per toy piano e altri strumenti. Un regalo di Laura Liben che ha scritto l'eponimo brano per toy piano e toy psaltery [salterio - N.d.R.]. Alcuni sono veramente buoni, altri meno.
09. Captain Beefheart - Grow Fins (Cofanetto Revenant - 1999).
Cinque CD con inediti e rarità. Per la maggior parte non grandi cose. Ma mi ha consentito di riascoltare "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" (ho l'LP), che regge ancora alla grande.
10. Vijay Iyer - Historicity (Act - 2009).
L'ho comprato (con download) per verificare il trambusto che aveva creato la sua uscita e mi è piaciuto subito un sacco.
