Vi è infatti in Cocoa una sottile, vibrante tensione provocata dalla maestria degli interpreti, abili nel creare piccoli salti di registro, impercettibili dissonanze, incroci imprevisti, insolite armonizzazioni. Il piano di Jacob Sacks gioca un ruolo fondamentale in questo gioco di trasparenze e di svelamenti, inserendo elementi di disturbo che amplificano la valenza melodica dell'esecuzione. Che è anch'essa caratterizzata dal contrasto tra il trombone profondamente classico del leader ed il sax più ardito, guizzante di David Binney.
